April Status Update!


Hi everyone!

It's been a minute since we released our demo for Winter VN Jam, so we wanted to give a quick update on how things have been and what we've been up to since. We were also hoping to share a little bit about our future plans for this game, so stick around if you're curious.

Before anything else though: Yes! We are still planning to continue development on Wings of Winter! 

Progress Update

Progress has unfortunately been a bit slow as life picked up after the holiday season, but we are still planning to share more of Serafina and Zephyr's story. A big part of that delay was due to how we handled the game jam itself, but there were also other responsibilities each of us had that kept us quite busy these last few months. For a while, we weren't certain when development would continue, which is why we're relieved to say things are resuming on that front!

In the meantime, there has been some progress on the game itself, although none of those features are ready to be added to a public build. We're happy to share that our writer was able to complete a draft of the Day 2 evening, which is shaping up to be one of our longest segments yet! Our devs are currently working on plugging that into the game, as well as editing it with sprites to tie more closely to the visual novel format. 

Aside from progress on Serafina's story, we've also been working on adding a few new screens to the experience, including a credits screen, an album screen, and a working but very rough character select screen 🥳 


Yep, a character select screen does mean what you think it means. We've completed an outline for Zephyr's POV! You'll be able to experience these 5 days again, from the perspective of our resident migrating robin. The full story is still a bit of a ways off though, as we'd like to complete development on Serafina's experience before committing fully to a second route.

As for some of our shorter term plans,  we're of course hoping to continue writing Serafina's experience for the full five days, as well as revise some of our current days to tie more closely into the different endings. We also received a few suggestions that we'd like to include, so thanks everyone who took the time to play our game and give feedback!

Finally, we've also solidified plans to add another original song for the upcoming days, and will include a new CG to pair with it. Keep an eye out for some UI updates as well, since there are a few different areas we still intend to customize.
